BAST
Bubastus / Baston / Bast: BAST

~ "Of all God's creatures there is only one that cannot be made the slave of the lash. That one is the cat. If man could be crossed with a cat it would improve man, but it would deteriorate the cat. "
- Mark Twain (1835-1910)

~ The history of these elusive creatures, although short lived as it was, is as great as any human civilization. They were prolific in number and very resourcefull, with complex social structures. Even as sound their society may have been, it was all very suddenly brought to ruin by their very beginnings. Now an endangered species, mostly due to mass genocide, absolutely no trace of their world may be found, that any human is aware of.

Thousands of years ago, before the coming of civilized man, creatures of all variations walked the Earth. One of the greatest of these was the Bast. An animal of supreme elegance and demeanor, with the grace and agility of the greatest and swiftest of hunters, and possessing the highest of all species aspirations, thought and culture.

This very creature would later affect our own, human, culture. Giving rise to religions and cults in their name. Thusly the Egyptian Myth.

"A cat-goddess whose cult-center was at Bubastis in the Delta; in the Late Period regarded as a beneficent deity. She was seen as the patron of cats, of women, fertility, protection, and the warmth of the sun." ~ Cult of Bast
